My first athletic love. I grew up playing soccer and baseball but as soon as I played my first game of football in the 5th grade, I stopped everything else.
I spent most of my career apart of the offensive line, a position group known for team effort and selflessness.
In my final year I had the opportunity to play the Tight End position. A hybrid position in between the offensive line and the receivers.
At my community college, I was the only other player besides the Quarterback invited to coach film sessions to discuss and come up with game strategy.
I was recruited by two Division 2 schools out of community college.
It is fairly normal for players to complement the fall football season with the spring track and field season. In high school I threw shot put, but in college I migrated to throwing javelin and running the 200m sprint.
Although not my primary sport I learned a lot in terms of patience and deliberate practice. This is also where I learned the importance of healthy lifestyle choices like consistent exercise regardless of if you're in season or not.
My current athletic pursuit. It began with me trying to find a hobby that would include exercise in my post-organized athletics career. I had several friends that trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and they invited me to the gym to try it out, I immediately took interest in the poetically technical, yet aggressive, nature of the sport.
I joined a mixed martial arts (MMA) program mid 2022 for people with no experience. At the end of the program, you had the choice to compete in an amateur MMA bout. In December of 2022 the program concluded, and I had my first MMA bout in January 2023
I have also competed in two BJJ tournaments since December 2022 in which I have found more success.
